Turns out, NM nullified asset seizure without a conviction, which seems appropriate. Of course, the thug class are none too happy and will likely find other more terrifying ways to shake people down (or have the legislators responsible murdered if it has to come to that).
Expect the kops to "nullify" the state on the side of the feds and just keep doing forfeiture.
