A largely dumb and intransigent generation gets to enjoy the fruits of their dumb and intransigent fathers and grandfathers.

Will they wise up? I doubt it. Even if they do, it'll only bring them sorrow, as even refusing to go along with the consequences of previous insane schemes won't prevent the reckoning, only lessen it.
