I had an interesting thought about caloric restriction the other day -- it seems more likely that the activity reduction brought on by caloric reduction is the real cause of it's life extension. No wear and tear to repair = longer life. I can understand why many would prefer simply to burn brighter.
About the real difference between effective workers and those just going through the motions. It's not enough to ape your betters, you have to become better. Individual virtue matters.

Guy gets the court to finally admit they are wrong on everything, the Cop admits perjury, but he still can't get the fine $$$ back. The state proceeds to ban these red light cams to put a stop to these types of arrests in response, the city simply triples fines for violations and doesn't remove the cams. Funny that people still think that written Law actually means something other than "convenient excuse".
The police's job should never be easy. If they wanted their assets to not get burned, they shouldn't have exposed them to someone who could figure it out.
